Knox Emergency Services Specialist Appliance Day
Ferntree Gull CFA recently attended the Knox Emergency Services Specialist Appliance Day held at the Knox Running Track. The day was primarily for Emergency Service workers to view specialised emergency equipment available should it be required. Ferntree Gull CFA had their primary "pumper" showcasing the 3000 litre per minute "monitor" that can be used to direct large volumes of water onto fires. The pumper was fed water from a portable dam via the Ferntree Gully/Knox Group "Big Fill" pump.
Ferntree Gully former Captain Toddy Small provided an excellent demonstration of how fire behaves in the bush and what people should be aware of to stay safe.
Other organisations attending the day included the Victoria Police, SES, DSE, Ambulance Victoria, St Johns and even the Coast Guard. A visit was from a fire fighting helicopter which landed on the nearby oval added excitement to the day.
